Semantics Lesson - Essay Example Inside this view, outward appearances, sounds, non-verbal communication, just as proxemics, have semantic (huge) content, and every one envelops different parts of study. Things, for example, accentuation and section structure, in composed language, have semantic substance. A portion of the fundamental parts of semantics incorporate lexical skill and sociolinguistic ability (Dragon and Fair-Bumbray, 2007). This paper will make a semantics exercise plan concentrating on lexical ability. Lexical fitness or capacity is an extravagant etymological word, which alludes to the manner in which language students separate the divergence between words in a comparative â€Å"family† (for example a seat = stool, seat or seat). Semantics is huge on the grounds that, in English, semantics (word importance) is the way to opening comprehension in words (Dragon and Fair-Bumbray, 2007). The old procedure that teachers have been utilizing in their semantics exercises is perception or symbolism. This, despite the fact that proficient, has not overseen completely to help understudies, particularly the individuals who need full ability in English, comprehend significance in words. This paper, along these lines, advocates for another procedure, Word Hierarchies or Graphic Organizers, which is straightforward and down to earth with regards to educating semantics. Understudies utilize their representation capacities and apply them in learning another system for passing on importance, semantic mapping. Word progressive systems, in this exercise, will be utilized to platform understudies before their presentation of the methodology of semantic mapping. The points of this exercise are for students to look at or examine word families and organize related words by power or degree. The gauges perceived have a boundless string, which students apply while utilizing language (Cruse, 1986). The expectation is that when conveying, students will pick words reasonable for the crowd and setting, and furthermore use p rocedures for creating, extending, just as recovering jargon. The norms of this exercise incorporate 6LD-Q3, 6LD-V10 and 8LD-O7. 6LD-Q3 will recognize state of mind, tone or feeling communicated in oral correspondence. 6LD-V10, then again, will decide exchanging word decisions utilizing thesauri, word references or different assets. 8LD-O7 at last will recognize and make casual and formal language appropriate to the reason and crowd, including perceiving how to utilize words for explicit impact. In DSM-IV, this was referred to as Personality Disorder Not Otherwise Specified (NOS). This terminology has been replaced in the  DSM-5 by Other Specified Personality Disorder. This is not a surprising category as there is significant overlap between the symptoms of several of the personality disorders. Since this is in a way a catch-all category for people with some symptoms of many different personality disorders, there is a wide range of symptoms among people who receive this diagnosis. How PD-NOS Was Reclassified in the DSM-5 Symptoms Most people have a fairly flexible personality that allows them to adapt to a variety of circumstances, people, and events. People with personality disorders, on the other hand, tend to get stuck in rigid ways of relating to people and events. These rigid thoughts may affect how they think about themselves and the world around them, how they experience emotion, how they function socially, and how well they can control their impulses. Mixed personality disorder is one of the most commonly diagnosed personality disorders. In one study looking at patients referred for psychotherapy, 18.4% met the diagnostic criteria for a mixed personality disorder.?? Types of Personality Disorders A personality disorder is defined as a chronic and pervasive  mental disorder  that affects thoughts, behaviors, and interpersonal functioning. The DSM-5 recognizes 10 distinct  personality disorders, which are arranged into three clusters. Cluster A: Odd-Eccentric Paranoid personality disorder: Paranoid personality disorder is marked by a chronic fear and distrust of other people combined with a belief that others are deceiving or exploiting them. It occurs in 1% to 2% of the population and overlaps in some ways with schizophrenia.Schizoid personality disorder: Schizoid personality disorder is marked by an indifference to other people. Those with this disorder often have very little interest in forming close relationships with other people.Schizotypal personality disorder: Schizotypal personality disorder, a condition that affects around 3% of the population, is marked by eccentric thoughts and behaviors. People with the disorder often engage in magical thinking, for example, believing they can read the future. They often experience tremendous social anxiety as well. Cluster B: Dramatic-Emotional Antisocial personality disorder: Its thought that 7.6 million Americans live with antisocial personality disorder, a disorder in which people may intentionally harm others and are indifferent to the pain experienced by anyone other than themselves. A lack of empathy (lack of concern for others) combined with a lack of remorse (little conscience about their cruel activities) often contributes to the tendency toward criminal behaviors.Borderline personality disorder: Borderline personality disorder (BPD) often leads to unstable and intense relationships due to anger and aggression towards others combined with a deep fear of abandonment. People with BPD often engage in risky behaviors and may engage in self-harming behaviors.Histrionic personality disorder: Histrionic personality disorder affects around 1.8% of the population and involves a combination of shallow emotions combined with attention-seeking and manipulative behaviors. Among this population, suicide gestures are commonly not related to depression, but rather as a way to manipulate others. (That said, its always important to take warning signs of suicide seriously; do not ignore signs even if you believe them to be disingenuous.)Narcissistic personality disorder: Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is characterized by extreme self-centeredness, an exaggerated sense of their own importance, and a lack of empathy or concern for others. The disorder is often recognized first not in the person who has the disorder, but through the emotional damage that occurs to those people with whom the person with NPD relates. Cluster C: Anxious-Fearful Avoidant personality disorder: Avoidant personality disorder is characterized by extreme shyness and sensitivity to criticism from others. It is often associated with other mental health conditions such as anxiety disorders and social phobia.Dependent personality disorder: Dependent personality disorder is characterized by intense fear and inability to make decisions. This disorder is the ultimate in the need to be a people pleaser and can result in near paralysis and inability to make the daily decisions (without the input of others) necessary for functioning well in the outside world.Obsessive-compulsive personality disorder: Around 2.5% of the population is expected to live with obsessive-compulsive personality disorder at some point in their life. It is characterized by a preoccupation with orderliness, perfectionism, and control. Introduction to Personality Disorders Diagnosis In order to be diagnosed with a personality disorder, a person must exhibit symptoms that meet the diagnostic criteria established in the DSM-5, including: The patterns of behavior must be chronic and pervasive, affecting many different aspects of the individual’s life, including social functioning, work, school, and close relationships. The person must exhibit symptoms that affect two or more of the following four areas: thoughts, emotions, interpersonal functioning, impulse control. The pattern of behaviors must be stable across time and have an onset that can be traced back to adolescence or early adulthood. These behaviors cannot be explained by any other mental disorders, substance use, or medical conditions. While the DSM-5 retained the DSM-IVs categorical approach to diagnosing personality disorders, it developed an alternate model, which it suggests could be an area for future study. Using this alternate hybrid model, clinicians would assess personality and diagnose a personality disorder based on a combination of specific difficulties in personality functioning, as well as the general patterns of pathological personality traits. Differential Diagnosis Before a clinician can diagnose a personality disorder, they must make a differential diagnosis to rule out other disorders or medical conditions that may be causing the symptoms. This is very important but can be difficult as the symptoms that characterize personality disorders are often similar to those of other psychiatric disorders and medical illnesses. Personality disorders also commonly co-occur with other illnesses. Causes Though experts dont understand all of the causes of personality disorders, there are believed to be causes that likely underlie more than one of these disorders. Personality disorders are thought to be caused by a combination of both genetic and environmental factors. Some people may be predisposed to these disorders due to genetics and family history. Genetic vulnerabilities may make people more susceptible to these conditions, while experiences and other environmental factors may act as a trigger in the development of a personality disorder. Treatment Since the symptoms and characteristics of mixed personality disorder span a wide range, there is not one specific treatment that is helpful to all people with the diagnosis. The particular symptoms present are often treated as if the person does meet the criteria of one of the personality disorders described above. For example, if a person meets some, but not all of the criteria for borderline personality disorder, one of the empirically validated psychotherapy treatments for borderline personality disorder may be pursued. In general, the treatment of personality disorders also requires that the person with the disorder wishing to pursue therapy. The Best Online Therapy Programs Psychotherapy Your treatment plan will depend largely upon your symptoms but may involve the use of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) or a subtype known as dialectical-behavioral therapy (DBT). Cognitive-behavioral therapy: Traditional CBT focuses on identifying negative thinking patterns that contribute to maladaptive behaviors and replacing these patterns with healthier, more realistic ones.Dialectical-behavioral therapy: DBT can be particularly effective at treating borderline symptoms and involves learning skills related to emotional regulation, interpersonal communication, mindfulness, and tolerating distress. Medications Psychotherapy is often more effective than medications, but medications may be prescribed to address certain symptoms. Antidepressants and anti-anxiety medications may be used to treat symptoms of depression and anxiety. Antipsychotic medications may be prescribed when people have Cluster A symptoms such as eccentric thoughts or behaviors. Coping While personality disorders are fairly common, many people do not realize that they have one of these conditions. One of the best ways to improve your quality of life is to recognize the signs and find effective ways to cope with symptoms that lead to distress and impairment. Professional support from a therapist combined with self-care can help people learn to manage their condition. Recognize Your Symptoms If you have mixed traits such as avoidance or dependence, consider the impact these might have on different aspects of your life including work and relationships. By better understanding these traits, youll have a clearer idea of what you can do to work around them. Have a Plan Some traits can make it hard to take care of your health and home. You might do well some of the time, only to have periods where you struggle to keep up. Come up with a self-care plan that works for you and enlist the help of friends and family who can help keep you on track. How to Cope With a Personality Disorder A Word From Verywell While research suggests that personality disorders with mixed symptoms are quite common, people often go underdiagnosed and undertreated. With appropriate treatment, you can learn to manage symptoms that may be having a negative impact on multiple areas of your life. Talk to your doctor if you suspect that you may be experiencing symptoms of some type of personality disorder.

Hrm Change Model Free Essays

Understanding this model and Its underlying concepts therefore helps us understand why the other change models are effective in overcoming resistance to change, and in creating an environment that is conducive to permanent change. The refreezing process happens once the desired state has been reached. When the desired state Is reached, the forces that are holding this new state In equilibrium are again identified, and now reinforced or â€Å"frozen† into place through a variety of actions. We will write a custom essay sample on Hrm Change Model or any similar topic only for you Order Now 2) Action Research Model The Action Research Model has two major phases. A preliminary or preparatory phase, and then a cycle phase. * In the preliminary phase, the problem Is first Identified. It refers to the fact that something which needs to be changed, Is identified. * Consultation is then held with a behavioral science expert, for example an ODD consultant, an organizational psychologist, or someone similar who can shed light on typical causes and solutions for such a problem, based on certain existing models. This consultation leads to the planning of a method for diagnosis. Data is then gathered and analyzed, and a preliminary diagnosis is done. Therefore it does not need a 1 OFF expectation that things could be better. * The first step is therefore simply initiating an enquiry. Often, this enquiry will not be very specific. It could be a team wanting to improve in some area, or it could be an organization identifying that it needs to improve something, e. G. Profitability or market share – but it might not be sure what to change. * The services of an expert, together with research of the organization and other organizations are utilized to identify the things that the organization has done really well, in the past. It could be compared to a story telling process where organization members tell stories of the things they’d done really well. * These success stories are then analyzed to identify the organization’s major strengths. Themes of strengths are then discovered. * Based on these strengths, the organization designs for itself an ideal future. The organization then designs ways to achieve that future, and implements those plans 4) General Model of Planned Change a) Entering and Contracting: The first set of activities in planned change concerns entering and contracting. Those events help managers decide whether they want to engage further in a planned change program and to commit resources to such a process. Entering an organization involves gathering initial data to understand the problems facing the organization or the positive opportunities for inquiry. Once this information is collected, the problems or opportunities are discussed with managers and other organization members to develop a contract or agreement to engage in planned change. The contract spells out future change activities, the resources that will be committed to the process, and how ODD practitioners and organization members will be involved. B) Diagnosing: In this stage of planned change, the client system is carefully studied. Diagnoses can . Focus on understanding organizational problems, including their causes and consequences, or on identifying the organization’s positive attributes. The diagnostic process is one of the most important activities in ODD. C) Planning and Implementing Change: How to cite Hrm Change Model, Papers

Sofa Fire free essay sample

In fiscal year 1998, Congress recognized the need for further efforts to address the continuing national problem of occupational fire fighter fatalities and funded NIOSH to implement a fire fighter safety initiative. On June 18th 2007 the fire occurred at the Sofa Super Store, which was composed of a single-story steel trussed showroom building with a warehouse building located behind the retail space. The building had no fire sprinkler system, which would have cost approximately $3 per square foot. The fire started at approximately 7:00 p. m. in a covered loading dock area built between the showroom and warehouse buildings which were attached to both buildings. At the time, the business was still open and employees were present. Charleston firefighters arrived on the scene just three minutes after the alarm, followed soon after by firefighters from the St. Andrews Public Service District. The initial attack focused on extinguishing the fire in the loading dock area, with a secondary effort to search for and evacuate civilians, and to prevent the fire from spreading to the showroom and warehouse. We will write a custom essay sample on Sofa Fire or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Crews entering the showroom reportedly initially encountered clear visibility with only very light puffs of smoke visible near the ceiling at the back of the showroom. Shortly thereafter, an exterior door was opened near where the fire was raging. Efforts to close the door failed, allowing the fire to enter the showroom. Firefighters were ordered to stretch two hose lines into the showroom to attack the spreading fire, however the pre-connected hose line from one of the units was too short, requiring some firefighters to again exit the building to add additional sections of hose and leaving only one small handline to hold back the growing fire. At about this time, fire dispatchers advised the crew’s on-scene that they had received a 9-1-1 call from an employee who was trapped in the warehouse, which required some firefighters to direct their attention to the rescue. The trapped employee was eventually rescued by firefighters who breached an exterior wall to reach him. Despite efforts to confine and extinguish the fire, it continued to spread into the structure and ignited furniture in the showroom, growing more quickly than the few operating hose lines could control before additional water could be applied to the fire, however efforts to stretch and begin operating additional hose lines continued. The showroom area of the store experienced a flashover while at least sixteen firefighters were still working inside. The flashover contributed to the rapid deterioration of the structural integrity of the building, leading to a near-complete collapse of the roof just minutes later. Many of the firefighters caught in the flashover were unable to escape and were trapped under the collapsed roof and shelving weakened by the fast-spreading fire. Several calls for help were made by trapped firefighters and efforts to rescue them were commenced. These efforts proved unsuccessful. By the time the fire was brought under control, nine Charleston firefighters had been killed. According to Charleston County Coroner Rae Wooten, the firefighters died of a combination of smoke inhalation and burns, but not from injuries sustained from the collapse itself. It was the greatest single loss of firefighters in the United States since 343 firefighters were lost in the collapse of the World Trade Center which resulted from the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. It was also the deadliest fire in the state of South Carolina since 11 people died in a blaze at the Lancaster County jail in 1979.

Hastings Banda, Life President of Malawi

Hastings Banda, Life President of Malawi Continued from: Hastings Banda: the Early Years After an extra-ordinary but altogether unassuming life as an ex-patriot black African doctor in Britain during the colonial era, Hastings Banda soon became a dictator once in power in Malawi. His contradictions were many, and he left people wondering how the doctor had become Hastings Banda, Life President of Malawi. Extremist: Opposing Federation and Supporting Apartheid Even while abroad, Hastings Banda was being drawn into nationalist politics in Nyasaland. The tipping piont seems to have been the decision by the British colonial government to join Nyasaland with Northern and Southern Rhodesia to form the Central African Federation. Banda was vehemently against federation, and several times, nationalist leaders in Malawi asked him to return home to lead the fight. For reasons that are not completely clear, Banda remained in Ghana until 1958, when he finally returned to Nyasaland and threw himself into politics. By 1959, he had been jailed for 13 months for his opposition to federation, which he saw as a device for ensuring that Southern Rhodesia – which was governed by a white minority – retained control over the majority black populations of Northern Rhodesia and Nyasaland.   In Africa Today, Banda declared that if opposition made him an â€Å"extremist†, he was happy to be one. â€Å"Nowhere in history,’ he said, â€Å"did the so-called Moderates accomplish anything.†Ã‚   Yet, despite his stance against the oppression of Malawis population, as a leader Banda had too few qualms, many people thought, about the oppression of South Africas black population. As President of Malawi, Banda worked closely with the Apartheid South African government and did not speak out against the radical segregation to the south of Malawis borders. This juxtaposition between his self-proclaimed extremism and the  real politique  of his international rule was just one of the many contradictions that confused and bewildered people about President Hastings Banda. Prime Minister, President, Life President, Exile As the long awaited leader of the nationalist movement, Banda was an obvious choice for Prime Minister as Nyasaland moved toward independence, and it was he who changed the name of the country to Malawi. (Some say he liked the sound of Malawi, which he found on a pre-colonial map.)   It was soon evident how Banda intended to rule. In 1964, when his cabinet tried to limit his powers, he had four of the ministers dismissed. Others resigned and several fled the country and lived in exile for the rest of their lives or his reign, which ever ended first.   In 1966, Banda oversaw the writing of a new constitution and ran unopposed for election as Malawis first president. From then forward, Banda ruled as an absolutist. The state was him, and he was the state. In 1971, the parliament named in President for Life. As President, Banda enforced his rigid sense of morality on the people of Malawi. His rule became known for oppression, and people feared his paramilitary Malawi Young Pioneers group.   He supplied the largely agrarian population with fertilizer and other subsidies, but the government also controlled prices, and so few but the elite benefited from surplus crops. Banda believed in himself and his people, though. When he ran in a contested, democratic election in 1994, he was shocked to be roundly defeated. He left Malawi, and died three years later in South Africa. A Fraud or a Puritan? The juxtaposition of Bandas demeanor as the quiet doctor in Britain and his later years as a dictator, combined with his inability to speak his native language inspired a number of conspiracy theories. Many thought he was not even from Malawi, and some claimed that the real Hastings Banda had died while abroad, and been replaced by a carefully chosen imposter.    There is something fiery about most puritanical people though. The same inner drive that leads them to renounce and denounce such common acts as kissing (Banda banned public kissing in Malawi and even censured movies he thought had too much kissing) and it is in this thread of Bandas personality that a connection can be drawn between the quiet, kind doctor and the dictatorial Big Man he became.    Sources: Banda, Hastings K. â€Å"Return to Nyasaland,† Africa Today 7.4 (1960): 9. Environmental and global health issues Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Environmental and global health issues - Essay Example Health care centers and nurses became very active and strict precautionary measures were taken for the controlling of the disease. Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome is a viral lung disease which is caused by coronavirus often referred to as SARS –CoV. It is serious or an extreme case of pneumonia. A person suffering from SARS will have to face severe difficulty in breathing and sometimes may even face death. The first case of SARS was found in Asia in 2003 and within a few months it spread in numerous countries all over the world. It is a well-studied example of a communicable disease and a disease that can spread easily due to the travelling of people to other countries. The breakout of SARS in 2003 was a very serious one and it took almost all the countries of the world and a total of 8,098 people were affected and out of these 774 people died. But now SARS have become totally under control but the virus still exists in the hosts which are animals and there are always chances that the virus can again return to the humans. The severity of SARS is greater in people of older age as compared to younger and middle aged people (Serradell, 2005). The symptoms of SARS are similar to that of common cold but those symptoms are much more severe as compared to those that of cold. SARS has no definite cure or medicine but it can be prevented by taking precautionary measures like avoiding communication with the patient, frequent hand washing, eating food rich in vitamin C, and other such measures. The epidemiological indicators of the SARS rife and the ways for the prevention, control, and complete eradication of SARS include gestation period, time period of communicability, mode of transference of the epidemic agent, risk factors involved in the transmission of the virus, environment, ways of reserving animals and the prevention of SARS (Stewart, 2004). The various countries in which the outbreak of SARS occurred

Summary what you have learned from the lectures Essay

Summary what you have learned from the lectures - Essay Example For employees, good job performance is more about utilizing functions that encourage the contributions of workers, thus making them feel motivated to work harder on the company’s behalf. Organizations can take advantage of rewards and pay hikes to inspire workers to do their best. Moreover, good leaders are also needed to find ways of communicating appreciation effectively to the workforce. Where organizations are concerned, good leaders will encourage the creation of a corporate culture that supports the realization of organizational objectives. Bad leadership will undermine the corporate culture and enable workers to develop unconstructive attitudes towards their responsibilities and the company in general. Bad leaders are also unable to communicate clearly with their employees. For workers, good leadership is more tied to the general treatment of employees. Good leaders are aggressive and firm while also being cooperative with their personnel. This will allow for them to be able to remain faithful to attaining organizational objectives while also giving room for workers to perform their different tasks in the ways that they deem fit. Good leaders also base promotions on principled workers and do not favor some over others. Organizations with good leaders will have a good corporate culture, a high morale, and be able to enjoy a sustainable long-term success. Creating an organizational culture that is supported by intrinsically motivated workers is critical to the success of every business. For most employees, motivation is an indication of the creativity and commitment that the workforce bears towards organizational functions. Employee motivation and job satisfaction are two connected aspects that contribute to the realization of company objectives. Moreover, most employees tend to compare their existing work conditions with their desired conditions to establish the levels of their satisfaction. While companies cannot meet all the goals of their workfo rce, it is important to identify the underlying factors that are associated with employee motivation in their particular business and learn how to employ them. This will inspire organizational commitment from any company’s workers. Organizational commitment involves a worker’s feeling of responsibility towards helping a company to achieve its goals. Organizational commitment deals with the emotional reactions of employees towards their responsibilities. To inspire organizational commitment, it is vital for a good corporate culture that makes workers feel like they belong to a second family to be developed. This will then spur the involvement of workers on an individual basis. Organizational commitment will not only improve production thereby improving profits, but will also result in lesser instances of absenteeism. Management structures can also be used to generate cooperation between workers, which then results in organizational commitment (Robbins, 509). While it is common for people to claim that workers prefer management structures rather than hierarchical structures in organizations, this is not always true. Organizations today have to strike a balance between bureaucratic models and flat organizational structures. People often imagine that equality among different ranks of workers is a natural state that need not be managed. However, this is not true. It is often difficult, particularly in organizations that embrace ‘

Comparing and Contrasting Shakespeares Play Romeo and Juliet and the M

Comparing and Contrasting Shakespeare's Play Romeo and Juliet and the Movie Version "[. . . E]mblems of mafia gang-land hostility: guns, fast cars, and tattoos [. . .]" (Walker 5) are not the usual images found in a Shakespearean play. Baz Luhrmann's 1996 production of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet is: [. . .] told in a setting [. . .] that is modern and yet unfamiliar: a world where the youth might conceivably always go armed; a world where love can still be so thwarted and endangered; where the innocence and passion of the protagonists can be so out of step with the current mood. (Hamilton 3) The original drama and the 1996 movie production have more differences than similarities that can be seen in comparing them both. The scenes and the language in the movie are easier to understand than reading the play because of the modern day setting and the conversational use of Shakespeare's language. In the movie, the hatred that is held between the Montague and Capulet families and leads to the destruction of the love that is found between Romeo and Juliet is portrayed more clearly than in the play. The feud between the two families can be seen in the characters and the scenes compared in the play and the movie. In the first act of Shakespeare's play, Tybalt, who is a member of the Capulet family, is upset at Benvolio, who is a member of the Montague family. Benvolio has drawn his sword in order to "keep the peace" (Shakespeare 1.1). Tybalt's hatred toward the Montague family can be seen in the following passage to Benvolio: "What, drawn, and talk of peace! I hate the word, / As I hate hell, all Montagues, and thee [. . .]" (Shakespeare 1.1). Once More, America, Before I Go Essay

The explication of poetry demands close reading of a single short poem or several stanzas of a longer work. Its goal is to unearth the hidden meaning/s of the poem by using the poetic techniques and elements employed by the author. Some of these techniques and elements include â€Å"diction, stanza and line structure, meter, rhythm and imagery (â€Å"Poetry Explication,† n. d. ). Walt Whitman’s poem, â€Å"Once More, America, Before I Go,† benefits from the use of explication due to its abstract nature, as it lacks concrete and specific imagery. To offset this problem, an in-depth look at the way Whitman uses rhythm and language will help to expound on the theme of the American democracy, of which he was an outspoken supporter. For Whitman, rhythm and language are intertwined, as the rhythm of the poem is inevitably linked with the type of language used. The work begins with the lines from which the poem takes its title: â€Å"One song, America, before I go / I’d sing, o’er all the rest, with trumpet sound, / For thee—the Future (Whitman, 1872). † This first stanza is notable: it establishes and introduces the readers to Whitman’s radical departure from traditional poetics. Note that the stanza seems like one continuous line, as if it were written in prose. Yet, this prose unit is broken in erratic intervals to form lines and not one continuous sentence. Whitman’s experimentation encapsulates perfectly his view of the democratic American society. This society, he believed, was the best form of society because it allowed for the individual’s self-expression and self-formation. Written as if spoken from his deathbed, as signaled by the first line, he tells American that it is the â€Å"Future. † The first letter of future is capitalized, which indicates it to be a proper noun. As such, future was become synonymous with future, and, at the same time, it implies the American democracy is the future, the mold for everybody to follow. Words such as these pepper the work, as can be seen in succeeding stanzas. In the second stanza, he elaborates on the other things he would do for America before dying: â€Å"I’d sow a seed for thee of endless Nationality; / I’d fashion thy Ensemble, including Body and Soul; / I’d show, away ahead, thy real Union, and how it may be accomplish’d (Whitman, 1872). † Nationality, ensemble, body and soul, and union all have their first letters capitalized. Again, Whitman’s unique use of language here gives the poem a deeper meaning. By using the same technique he used with the word â€Å"future† in the preceding stanza, he again turns these abstract concepts into concrete proper nouns. Furthermore, through such technique, he emphasizes the America will inevitably be the paradigm of all these because of democracy. In the second line, three words are capitalized: ensemble, body, and soul. All of these points to Whitman’s desire to form the perfect citizenry of America. In order to do this, he had to start with perfecting the individual person, a goal that can easily be reached because of democracy. The third stanza is different from the rest of the poem, being set off in parenthesis. It indicates a plan he will only start, but not accomplish, unlike those tasks he mentioned initially: â€Å"(The paths to the House I seek to make, / But leave to those to come, the House itself. ) (Whitman, 1872)† Here, Whitman is broaching on the continuation of time from the past to the future, and the fact that the experiment in democracy will see its final form in the future. He will only blaze the trails, but the final form will be for the future. The poem ends with an assertion of his belief. However, he says that simply believing will not bring results – they must also prepare: â€Å"Belief I sing—and Preparation (Whitman, 1872)† Both must act together to fulfill the goal not only for the present but also for the future: â€Å"Life and Nature are not great with reference to the Present only, / But greater still from what is yet to come, / Out of that formula for Thee I sing (Whitman, 1872). † He believes that the present is already good, as emphasized by the words life, nature, and present having their first letters capitalized. However, he believes that with the coming of future comes the fulfillment of the promise afforded by democracy.

Impact Of Globalization On The Chinese Economy Essay

Globalization is an important term that is partially responsible for an economic revolution that took place around the world. Theodore Levitt, a former Harvard Business Review editor, coined the term â€Å"globalization† and used it for the first time in one of his articles in 1983 (Los Angeles Times magazine, 2006). According to the Business Dictionary, globalization can be defined as â€Å"the worldwide movement toward economic, financial, trade, and communications integration† (businessdictonary.com). China can be considered as an excellent example to demonstrate globalization. As of 2016, China is the second lar gest economy in the world with a GDP of $12.9 billion USD, and will continue to grow following the trail the United States (money.cnn.com, 2016). The emergence of China and its success as a powerful economy in the world can be partially credited to globalization.
